A temple of Shingon Sect, Yamashina School. Kannon-dō in the garden was built early in the 20th century and a stone lantern which is said to be donated by Mito Mitsukuni (prominent feudal lord) in the garden is called Kajūji style lantern. The approach to the temple with white walls has often been used for the locations of historical dramas.
